Abstract: In Colombia, mass public transport is the most used by the population, however, it has been found that due to the low quality of service, its users are dissatisfied. From the scientific literature, it is known that mass transport systems improve service efficiency, but do not promote comfort. Studies affirm that in the city of Medellín, the quality of the transport service in the urban bus mode generates user dissatisfaction. That dissatisfaction of the users generates that many of them buy their own vehicle. The increase in vehicle sales increases the problems of vehicular congestion and environmental pollution. Taking into account the above, this article analyzed the perception of the comfort of the users of the transport service in the urban bus system of the city of Medellín. It was found that the majority of respondents expressed disagreement that the internal provision of buses meets their expectations and needs. Similarly, many of them said they disagree that the design of the seats and the interior space of the buses allow them a comfortable and pleasant trip. These results indicate that in terms of technological infrastructure, buses in the city of Medellín do not have the requirements that users want, in the same way, the poor state of buses is a factor that generates dissatisfaction and is also considered by users as a cause of the city's environmental pollution. Therefore, it is required that transportation in the city of Medellín be planned according to the needs and realities of the users in order to prevent car sales from growing.
