Abstract: Real Estate Development 101 for Architects. Have you ever wondered how does real estate development actually work? Can I as a practicing architect develop my own projects? This presentation will explain the real estate development process. Including the theory behind market analysis and how it can be used to determine good deals from bad deals. I will discuss finding opportunities, securing financing, selecting professionals, managing general contractors and lastly property management/asset management. There will be an explanation on the practical steps to successfully complete a project from the developer's chair. Even if you do not want to be a developer, you will better understand how developers make decisions and their management philosophy with design professionals.
