Abstract: Assessment of academic progress in education has a great psychological and pedagogical impact on students of any age group. It is essential to be aware of the main pedagogical principles of this impact and use them correctly in practical teaching. In order to assess knowledge more accurately, a special system must be developed and implemented. Teachers should be trained to apply the system in the educational process. In this paper, the authors are studying the psychological and pedagogical impact of the knowledge assessment on students of different educational levels, especially on higher school students. The authors suppose that the deep awareness of this impact can be employed beneficially for the whole process of teaching and create extra motivation for students. The authors also provide some recommendations on how to assess knowledge more objectively.
