Abstract: Sex education may act as a shield that protects children from becoming the victim of a pedophile or abuser, and should therefore be given serious emphasis starting from preschool age. The objective of this study was to develop a child safety module using creative drama. The purpose of the KS-DK Module is to prevent sexual abuse from occurring. KS-DK is an abbreviation of the Malay phrase for ‘Sexual Safety through Creative Drama’. The researcher employed a sequential exploratory mixed methods design, and this paper will discuss the findings from the preliminary data collection in the first phase of the research. The interview protocols which consist of three sections were validated by 10 experts. Interviews with 10 preschool teachers were coded through a thematic analysis which found that creative drama was effective in building a robust KS-DK Module. Face to face interviews with parents confirmed that the students practiced what they had learned through the module at home. This self-protection module may assist in preventing child sexual abuse among preschoolers, by providing a fun and active approach using creative drama.
