Abstract: This project describes a new model of educating our nursing students in long term care homes during their final placement course. There is a critical shortage of nurses interested in gerontology yet the world is aging so fast, we can not keep pace with the demands for care of the aged. This project illuminates the exciting leadership and management possibilities awaiting our nursing students. Learning in the long term care sector is limited by our own biases and is an untapped resource for our nursing students to seriously consider.
