Abstract: This research investigated the influence of single-parenting on the educational and social adjustment of in-school adolescents in Benue South Senatorial Zone of Benue State. The subjects were made up of 378 junior secondary schools one to three (JSS 1-3) in-school adolescent students from 21 government grant aided secondary schools in the senatorial zone C of Benue State. The study adopted descriptive survey design using a multi-stage sampling technique. A single parent educational and social adjustment inventory (SPESAI) of 27 item was designed by the researcher. It was used to collect data and the estimate of internal consistency was established using split half method. A reliability coefficient value of 0.88 was established using spearman brown prophesy formula. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the six research questions while chi-square was used to analyze the six research hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The finding revealed that single-parenting has significant influence on in-school adolescent in examination malpractice, truancy, aggression, lateness to school, bullying, and loneliness in Benue South Senatorial Zone. Consequent upon the findings, it was recommended that single-parents should assume proper responsibility for upbringing of their children by providing their basic needs. Parents should live by examples to be able to provide a model offspring.
