ANALYSIS OF FUNCTIONAL MATHEMATICAL CAPABILITIES BASED ON BLOOM'S TAXONOMY IN BOCCE SPORTS ON DOWN SYNDROME ATHLETES

Abstract: Children with down syndrome can develop their talents and potential towards achievement through Bocce sports at regional, national and international events like Special Olympic event which is participated by almost all countries. This study aims to determine the ability of athletes with Down syndrome in the application of functional mathematics in Bocce sports based on Bloom's theory. This research is expected to contribute to the knowledge of prospective Bocce athletes with specific down syndrome of developing their potential. This research was conducted in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for a month. The research subjects were Bocce athletes with down syndrome who had won the Bocce match in regional and national level, totaling 10 children. The approach of this research is descriptive qualitative with a case study method. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data validity by data triangulation, techniques, and sources, and negative case analysis. Research findings that ability of children with down syndrome include: 1) Cognitive domain that knowing the concept of numbers, the concept of distance, and the concept of space; 2) Affective domain is to pay attention to the coach's instructions and active participation in Bocce training; and 3) Psychomotor domain is accuracy of throws and throwing techniques used include palm up and palm down techniques.
