Abstract: Co-curricular activities play a vital role in developing students’ learning of the affective domain. The current study was designed to explore the role of parents and teachers in developing students’ interest in co-curricular activities. The population of the study consisted of teachers and parents of secondary schools from Southern Punjab. A sample of 800 participants (400 parents and 400 teachers) from hundred secondary schools was selected. Ten teachers from each school while 10 parents whose children were studying in the selected schools were chosen through random sampling technique. Two sets of questionnaires; one for teachers and one for students were used for the collection of data. Statistical techniques such as frequency and percentage were calculated to analyze the data. In addition, impacts of demographic variables were analyzed through independent sample t-test and one way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni as a post hoc test. The findings reveal that the parents’ poor financial status is a hindrance for developing students’ co-curricular activities, which consequently affect the interests for participation in games and sports. Schools lack of adequate co-curricular infrastructural facilities. It was also found that parental involvement in co-curricular activities seems meager as compared to teachers’ contribution. Therefore, it is recommended that adequate finance should be ensured by parents and schools so that students can get opportunities to participate in co-curricular activities appropriately. Moreover, appropriate changes should be made in the curriculum for developing professionalism regarding developing co-curricular activities. Parents should be sensitized in identifying, nurturing and developing their children’s co-curricular interest. Furthermore, guidance and counseling on co-curricular activities should be provided to teachers and parents to identify talented and gifted students who can perform well in co-curricular activities.
